IR Program and COVID-19

The IR Program would like to provide a brief update on a few areas in which we have been receiving questions.

Advising

Advising is still available both over email and through online video and voice calls. If you would like to arrange a time to speak in an online call please email irmajor.program@ubc.ca.

Cr/D Courses

The Program has decided to accept IR courses taken for Cr/D standing in the 2019W Term 2 session toward IR requirements. Please follow the steps as outlined on the Faculty of Arts website if you wish to change an IR course to Cr/D grading. This exception to count Cr/D courses from this term also applies to students not yet in the IR Major. If you are in first or second year and are taking IR pre-requisite courses you could count those taken as Cr/D towards IR requirements should you be admitted to the Major or decide to declare an IR Minor. Please note that this exception is specifically for courses in the 2019W Term 2, it does not apply to the 2020 Summer Session.

Major Admissions

The application deadline for the 2020 IR Major Admissions cycle will remain May 15th, 2020. Due to the Cr/D grading changes a few updates have been made to the admissions process and you can read about those here.
