Call for Applications: Simons Award in Nuclear Disarmament and Global Security

Awards of $1,000 are provided annually by the Liu Institute for Global Issues to support full-time UBC undergraduate students of at least third year standing who are selected to participate in research on topics broadly related to nuclear disarmament and global security, and who satisfactorily complete a research paper or other suitable product. Full details of this call for applications can be found on this page.

Many IR Majors have been selected to participate in this opportunity in the past and it has provided them with an opportunity to engage in a different kind of academic research within the course of their degrees. To complete this project you will work closely with a faculty member, the Simons Award chair, who will consult with you on the development of your own piece. The chance to do this with an expert in this field is an invaluable one and an opportunity you are not likely to have within your IR courses.

Applications include the submission of a research proposal along with a few additional documents, all of which you can read about in the initial call-out linked to above. The application deadline is Thursday, October 10, 2019.
